Smoke & Fire Festival


The Smoke & Fire Festival will take place at the Promenade Park in Maldon and will celebrate the art of cooking with fire & smoke. The festival will be raising money for the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance. After the success of last year's event with over 18,000 visitors, this year is set to be even bigger. There will be over 45 award-winning street food vendors coming from across Europe, live music, four demonstration areas with special guests, pitmaster competitions, a kids zone featuring a circus workshop, as well as a Real Ale & Cider Festival.

Entry is £5 and kids under 16 go free. Gates Open at 10.30am on Saturday & Sunday.




> The BBQ cooking Demo Kitchen Stage area brings you some of the best PitMasters Grillers around including Marcus Bawdon, UK BBQ Magazine editor,  Simon Dyer, ITV BBQ and John Gower and his team from Quite Water.

> Along with the award-winning street food vendors and stallholders, there will be a Real Ale and Cider Festival.

> There will be live music on Saturday and Sunday across two stages. New for 2019 is a buskers corner.

> There will also be extreme eating contests over the weekend with the famous Smoke & Fire chilli eating & hot wing eating challenge.

> The kids can enjoy a variety of activities at the Kids Zone which includes inflatables, rides, and face painting, as well as a reptile petting zoo, circus skill workshops and roaming entertainers, making the festival a brilliant family day out.

Eat your way around the world with over forty-five award-winning street food vendors coming from across Europe which will feature a wide variety of international cuisine. You can also save money with the Festival Meat Feast Tokens which will be ideal for that family BBQ treat.

Shop until you drop and take a look at the fabulous jams, sauces, jerk, marinades, as well as the BBQ aprons, festival t-shirts, and band merchandise all available at the festival and from the merch stand. There will also be equipment galore from ugly drums, jerk pans and kettles, to table-top BBQs smokers and accessories.

Come and meet your regional and local breweries, vineyards and distilleries and there will also be a mini Real Ale & Cider Festival where you can try the festival Smoked Ale. Also in attendance to the Smoke & Fire Festival is the Artisan Drinks Pavillion which is always a crowd pleaser.
The Smoke and Fire Launch Party will take place on Friday 16th August with Dr and the Medic will be performing live, and a long table low & slow BBQ Banquet. Sit among friends old and new, share a bottle and enjoy the menu created especially for you by this year’s fire cook John Gower and his team from Quite Water.

The concept behind the opening launch night BBQ banquet feast is a rustic US, large-scale smokey BBQ communal dining experience. The most exciting fire chefs and pit masters will present the first ever Smoke & Fire banquet feast to you in the decadent surrounds of the beautiful canvas banqueting hall, the main marquee. Then feel your spirits rise and dance the night away with Dr and the Medics live on the stage.
As well as parking at the Promenade Park, there are several car parks within the town centre for you to use on the day. The town centre is only a short ten minute walk from the Promenade Park. View the list of town centre car parks and location maps. All day parking (8am - 10pm) costs only £1 on weekends at the town centre car parks. There will also be a park and ride available from the Museum of Power in Langford, which is just over two miles from Maldon's town centre and Promenade Park. There is an option for pre-bookable camping, either for 1, 2 and 3 nights. Each camping ticket covers x1 Tent, Campervan or Caravan, two adults and two children under 16 years, plus entry to the festival each day and a free festival programme. No discount for single occupancy. Additional adults cost £10 per night. Three nights camping on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is £60. Two nights camping on Saturday and Sunday is £40, and one night camping on Friday or Saturday is £28.
