Road transport
To keep cyclists and spectators safe during the race, RideLondon will be implementing a number of road closures and diversions in the Maldon District on Friday 27 May, and in Chelmsford, Dunmow and Epping on 28 and 29 May. Please be aware that these could affect your journey, so you may need to leave extra time or take a different route from normal.
The upper High Street in Maldon, from West Square to Market Hill, and the middle High Street from Market Hill to Butt Lane will be closed to vehicle traffic from 4:00 until 20:00 on Friday 27 May - but shops will be open for business as usual. Pavements will be open for pedestrians, although controlled pedestrian crossing points will be in operation at times when cyclists are passing through. There will also be restrictions on Market Hill, with complete closures 10:30-11:30 and 13:00-15:00 and access to local residents only at other times between 4:00 and 20:00. Lower High Street and Mill Road from Butt Lane to the Promenade Park coach park gate will be closed from 10:30-11:30 only. Road access to Butt Lane and High Street East car parks will be available at all other times throughout the day. White Horse car park will be open throughout.
You can see detailed maps of how the closures will affect Maldon and Heybridge below, or download maps from RideLondon here.

Elsewhere, safe access for the race will be maintained by using rolling road closures of around 45 minutes at a time, between 10:30 and 15:00. Stewards will be directing traffic along the road and can advise on when roads will reopen, but where possible avoid car journeys along the route during these times. Emergency blue light access will be maintained at all times, as well as access to carers visiting vulnerable clients.
Please note that travel outside the district on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 may also be subject to delays, so please allow extra time, especially if you are travelling to Stansted airport.
Bus transport
The fact that the upper part of the High Street is closed all day (and part of the day lower down), means that bus services will be disrupted, including the 31 and 331 to Chelmsford/Burnham, 73 to Chelmsford, 90 to Witham, the 288 town circular route and the 95 to Tollesbury. DaRT services and school buses may also be delayed and/or diverted.
For details of FirstBus diversions see First Bus, but in particular note that from 10:30 to 15:00 the 75 will start and finish from Wood Lane Heybridge and will not travel into Maldon town centre. The 73 will have significant diversions and will not service Maldon White Horse, and the 13:25 bus will be cancelled. The 31/331 will have stops in Spital Road and Mundon Road and will run along Cross Road, avoiding the High Street.
For the latest information on Hedingham buses see www.hedinghamandchambers.co.uk. It looks likely that the 95 and the D1/D2 services from Maldon will depart from Morrison's and Tesco only.
The 90 service by Stephenson's of Essex will be diverted to run via the bypass, Spital Road, Acacia Drive then on to Morrisons, with no stops operational in the High Street on Friday. Because of rolling road blocks along the route, long delays are expected heavily between 10:30 and 13:55. The 288 service is rerouted via the bypass, B1018, Limebrook Way, Park Drive, Mill Road, Mundon Road, then back the same way. See Stephenson's.
Arrow/Essex Essexandsuffolk Dart services are using live control on Friday as they are not tied to fixed routes in Maldon, so ring 01621 874410 to arrange a suitable pick-up spot.
Car parking
White Horse car park is open throughout, and parking will be available at Promenade Park on the lower car park (but not the coach park). Butt Lane and High Street East will be available apart from brief road closures at the start of the race.
Residents parking and disabled parking bays along the race route are suspended and any vehicles left there will be lifted and moved to a safe location nearby. If your car has been towed away please call RideLondon customer services on 020 7902 0213 to find out where it has been placed.
