About

Great Braxted, Little Braxted and Wickham Bishops war memorial is a Grade II listed stone memorial with a tall, hexagonal pillar topped with an orb and cross, standing on a three-step hexagonal plinth. The memorial was given to the area by Mr and Mrs Wilson of Heath House, Little Braxted, whose son Lt Charles Oscar Wilson was killed in action in 1917 aged 23.

The dignified monument memorial was unveiled on 26 March 1921 by Lt Col T Gibbons, DSO and commander of the 5th Battalion Essex Regiment, and carries a total of 30 names, 22 from World War One and eight from World War 2.
