About

Tolleshunt Knights is a small village close to Tiptree, home to a Greek Orthodox Monastery set in an ancient church, as well as a large and modern village hall.

The name Tolleshunt Knights may originate because the manor once belonged to the Le Chevalliers (Chevalier being the Norman French for Knight). or from the fact that the land round about was once given over as tithe land to the most largest of all the orders of crusading knights, the Knights Templar.
