About

This site is located between the Maldon bypass, the River Blackwater and the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. It consists of a large reedbed and an adjacent meadow and is managed for the benefit of wildlife. Part of the site is accessible via a boardwalk from the footpath leading to the bridge over the canal at the far end of Tesco car park. Visitors should not leave this boardwalk as the site contains areas of deep water.

The nature reserve is a great place to spot butterflies and birdlife, as well as rare plants such as the Marsh Sow Thistle.
