About

Sea-Change provides residential opportunities for young people and vulnerable adults to learn and develop in a unique environment. By living and working together aboard a traditional sailing vessel they participate in a wide range of life skills and are encouraged to take increasing responsibility for their contribution and group decisions.

Sea-Change offer a graduated set of programmes from entry level tasters to extended residential periods with accreditation. The charity is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training and Sailability Foundation centre, and voyages with Sea-Change may be suitable for Duke of Edinburgh Residentials.

School and educational visits are welcome on board the engineless Thames sailing barge Blue Mermaid. This vessel was built in 2016 but is a faithful replica of the original Blue Mermaid, built in 1930 but lost during the Second World War. It has a steel hull and deck, but with all the traditional rigging of a sea-going Thames Barge and no engine.
